Located on Phuket’s northeast side on a parallel with west coast beach, Bang Tao. Cape Yamu Beach is found to the northeast of Phuket City, just north from Coconut Island. The beach is found on the north side of the Cape Yamu peninsula. There are a number of luxury villas in this area, and it is generally quiet and less travelled. Beaches are not the best, with muddy water, muddy bottom, and dirt mixed with sand on the shore.

Cape Yamu is not a primary destination for vacationers, so in that respect, it’s nice and chill. This is a nice little spot to go on Phuket’s east side to see the water and some islands.

This is a fairly long sandy beach with very few people. So, if you want to get away from people - this could be a good place to throw down a blanket and eat a picnic with your loved ones. If you’re here around meal time, you could spend some time at the beach and then find a good place to eat. Trees line the beach, so if the sun is out and it’s too hot, you can shelter under some of the large trees.

Beach Restaurants / Bars Cape Yamu Beach
  • Taste Yamu

    Taste Yamu – On the South side of the Yamu peninsula is a beautifully decorated restaurant that gets very high ratings for the taste of the meals and great service. The restaurant overlooks the water and the breeze blows through easily as there are no walls in the front of the restaurant. A Swedish chef makes local and European favorites. In the past, it was named “Breeze.” The chef and menu have changed and this venue needs more reviews. Someone remarked in a review that the Happy Hour was a discount of 10 THB. Not sure if that’s true but we wanted to let you know in case that’s all it is.

    While there are a couple of other restaurants on the cape, there are few reviews for the other restaurants and we feel better recommending this one. We’d rather not send you to a place that could be a bad experience.

  • Ocean’s 11 Villa

    Ocean’s 11 Villa Phuket – At the South end of Cape Yamu Beach is another large luxury villa with 6 bedrooms that sleeps 12 persons and is in the same price range as Villa Sawarin also for Cape Yamu Beach. Fitness options include a private pool, workout room with treadmills and stepping machines, as well as a tennis court.

    Rates begin at 46,000 THB per night and go up to 133,000 THB per night depending on how many guests are staying.

  • Villa Sawarin

    Villa Sawarin Phuket – On the North end of Cape Yamu Beach is this luxurious villa property. Spacious villas have hardwood floors and private swimming pools. The furniture is in great shape, newer, and in a modern style. Villas overlook the water. If you’re a tennis player, you’re in luck, there is a tennis court here! Golfer? There is even a practice hole with green you can use to sharpen your skills for one of the 18-hole courses close by. If you prefer a different sort of workout, they also have a nice fitness room with treadmills and dumbbells.

    The highlight of many guests was the highly competent staff.

    Rates per night start around 80,000 THB. It appears that there is a 3-night minimum. At least our search query on Booking.com reverts to that when we search for one night. (This was an old price from 2019. We cannot find any current rates for 2023.)
