Certainly, one of the nicest beaches in Thailand and definitely one of our top 5 beaches on Phuket Island is Surin Beach ! Surin beach is located just up the road, so to speak, from Patong Beach, going north. In the early 2000’s Surin Beach was a top locals and long-time repeat visitor favorite. The beach is long, and the sand is deep.

The water is usually clean and clear, with a ripple of waves. The atmosphere is always relaxed and there is plenty of room for visitors, it’s never crowded, and the food is always delicious.

In the past, there were food shacks just up under the trees – many of them. The military recently decided to reclaim all beach land – and knocked down all illegal structures, not only here but at all Thailand’s beaches. In a way, it was disappointing to see them go. Overall, it opens up the space here at Surin and there are still good places to eat from street food vendors who come and go each day. There is still a focus on the natural beauty of the beach, shady trees, and islands offshore. Perfect!

Yes! Surin Beach is one of the best for surfing on Phuket when the waves start breaking. You’ll find dozens of people come for the waves when the swells start usually between the months of April and October or so. The waves are usually biggest during the early or late part of the low-season. Keep that in mind if you’re planning on coming to Surin for the waves. The soft sandy bottom is ideal for surfers. The breaks are not very long, there is no reef to start the break, but still it’s ideal because there is so much space to surf and the consistency can be great.

When waves are present, Surin Beach can have a strong undertow which can pull out adults and children into the deeper water. When waves are present, close supervision of children is required.

    This is either a food stand along the road that runs along Surin Beach, or it is possibly a previous name of the large restaurant “Patcharin Seafood” that was there for years. It’s in a great location regardless, and gets good ratings.

    With 235 reviews and a 4.4 out of 5 rating, you’ll probably enjoy your food and/or drinks. Note, this food stand is located on the short road running along Surin Beach, not in the sand at the beach as it is sometimes represented on Google Maps.

    Patcharin Seafood – I’m not sure how they did it, but this restaurant is the only structure on Surin Beach. Well, it’s on the rocks at the South end of the beach. Sure, it looks like it was put up in a day. The building and interior is nothing to get excited about, but it’s right on the beach and the food gets decent ratings by diners. Outdoor and indoor seating available. Good prices surprised a lot of reviewers. Fresh fish and other seafood is the focus at Patcharin.

    The best thing about this place is they have a path from here around the rocks and to a beach that is stunning and usually almost empty – Haad Laem Singh Beach.

    Beach Restaurant by The Surin Phuket – They appear to have named this restaurant to make sure you know it’s part of the luxurious The Surin resort close by. There are beautiful views from this on-the-beach restaurant. High ratings at online review sites from guests. This is a really stunning place the view is magical. Prices are high to match the accommodations at The Surin.

    Twinpalms Phuket Resort – This is a large resort set back a couple of hundred meters from the ocean, like all the other resorts close to Surin Beach. Guests enjoyed the large rooms, beds, and bathrooms and raved about the service in their reviews. The Twinpalms Phuket received fantastic ratings from past guests.

    4.7 out of 5 stars and over 900 reviews. Rooms start at around 6,000 THB per night in the off season. This one is highly recommended, you’ll most likely enjoy your stay!

  • Destination Resorts Phuket Surin Beach

    A few minutes walk from Surin Beach will put you at the doorstep of this upscale resort hotel. It is across the street from the beach, but there are no beach accommodations right on the beach. This is about as close as it gets.
    Modern rooms have small refrigerators, flat-screen TVs and WIFI, plus coffee and tea pots/supplies. Some upgrades have balconies or direct pool access. This resort has a restaurant that serves breakfast (extra) and a sports bar.  Upgraded rooms add terraces with direct pool access; suites have sitting areas. Room service is available.
    Kids will enjoy waterslides, 2 outdoor pools, a fitness center, and a spa.
    Rooms are under 2,000 THB in the off-season, which is a great deal considering the location. Surin is one of Phuket’s prettiest beaches.

    Amanpuri – This is another 5-star resort on Pansea Beach that is stunning to see. The views are perfect, and the private location makes you feel like royalty. Not surprisingly, you’ll almost have to be royalty to afford the 37,000 to 40,000 THB starting rate for villas during low season. Is it worth it? Overwhelmingly, most guests rate the Amanpuri very highly despite the cost. If you’re looking for one of the most breathtaking high-end resorts on Phuket, and you don’t mind paying 10,000 THB for a meal for 2-persons, this resort is one of the best choices available to you on Phuket Island.

    The Amanpuri is a 100-acre high-end 5-star luxury resort full of private villas that possibly takes up the entire peninsula, but they list their address as Pansea Beach, not Pineapple Beach. The resort overlooks the Andaman Sea at multiple points on the peninsula. Large terraces and open-air lounge spaces at each villa. Large villas with up to 9 bedrooms available. Four restaurants, one of them focusing on Italian food. After plugging in dates for ten minutes to find an opening, we found a 29,000 THB room for two people for one night, during high season.
