Bang Tao Beach is around 7 kilometers (4 mi.) long from top to bottom, and is a west facing beach – ideal for sunsets. In that stretch are a number of other privately named beaches like Momo beach, Ottoman beach, and Rattan Beach. Bang Tao Beach is covered with very tall pine trees known as ironwood trees, great for providing shade for picnic-goers at the beach below.

Bang Tao Beach is fronted by a series of large luxury resorts, and yet it isn’t overcrowded. There is so much space at this beach that you will never feel like there are too many people. Instead, you’ll be asking yourself where everybody is.

The bay of Bang Tao Beach is wide open to the waves generated by swells coming in, and surfing can be quite good.     Smigo’s Bar & Restaurant is not only a great place to eat, but there are a couple of other reasons to head there for your sunset dinner as well. The beach faces directly West and sunsets are legendary. There are fire-dancing shows at sundown. There are sometimes fireworks too! All over the beach here are very comfortable smushy chairs you can lay in and drink your cocktails as you watch the sun say goodbye to another day.

    Benny’s Cocktails & Grill was previously called Benny’s American Bar & Grill. This restaurant is situated on the furthest point South in Bang Tao Beach. You’ll find it very highly rated on all sorts of different cuisine. Some reviewers mentioned in reviews the food being delicious, especially barbecued ribs, chicken, lamb, crab cakes, pepper poppers, and steak with sides of French fries. The owner is Italian and has a good grasp of American-style and of course European cooking. Highly recommended for a meal and drinks.

    Set back considerably off the beach, but with beach access is the Banyan Tree Phuket complex. This is an exclusive resort located in the middle of Bang Tao Beach. Private pools are included for the large villas. There are free bicycles to get around the huge resort area. Villas overlook the lakes and golf course, and the clubhouse is on the grounds. Rooms are clean, service is good, and the rooms are described as somewhat outdated by guests.

    Rates start around 19,000-21,000 THB in the off-season.

    In the center of Bang Tao’s Beach, this resort gets very high ratings for the property, staff friendliness, and expansive and well-planned grounds. The pool is nice but there is only a small place for kids to swim, the rest of the pool is 1.5 meters (5 ft.) deep. Good kid’s club activities.

    Rates at the Mövenpick Phuket Bangtao were found beginning at around 15,000 THB during the low season in 2023.

    Amora Beach Resort Phuket is an affordable option on the South side of Bang Tao Beach. This is a very affordably-priced 4-star hotel with rates starting around 1,500 THB for a night. The rooms are big but a bit dated. The sea, the beach, and the swimming pools are all nice. Try an Amora Pina Colada in a pineapple served at the beach to help you feel really cozy here.

    Guests liked the large, clean, updated rooms, though some said maintenance could be improved · Guests liked the comfortable beds and appreciated the friendly, professional staff, and housekeeping.
    The hotel is still under construction and some guests complained about the noise and dirt flying around. Others said that basic maintenance had fallen behind.
    Folks, this is an entry-level hotel at a very reasonable rate for the location. Please understand that hotels need to update and construction is often an ongoing process.
